"'Playing' Tinder: Aesthetics of Representation"

"There are so many profiles I find aesthetically displeasing that it often has me wondering if I’m picky or it’s just that these men do not know how to complexly represent their identities. For a Tinder profile, it’s best to convey as much information about yourself as possible without overwhelming it, using a small amount of visual and textual cues. I don’t know this for sure, and this would have to be the subject of another essay, but I have a feeling that men do not experience this conflict of aesthetics as strongly as women do, due to the importance of appearance and representation that’s been culturally stressed upon women for centuries."
